| Abstract: | Este trabajo examina la evolución de las remesas del periodo 2000-2017 a la luz de la gran recesión económica acontecida a finales de 2007 y que de acuerdo con el Departamento de Estadísticas de Estados Unidos duró hasta junio de 2009, sus repercusiones con relación al empleo de los mexicanos en Estados Unidos y en el envío de remesas a México; la importancia de las remesas, aun en tiempos de contracción económica, como fuente de divisas a nivel nacional, estatal, regional y municipal. Las remesas disminuyen los impactos negativos en otras fuentes de divisas en contracción económica y son un alivio temporal en la reducción de la pobreza, pero genera vulnerabilidad ante sus fluctuaciones. |
| Description: | This paper examines the evolution of remittances for the period 2000-2017 in the light of the great economic recession that occurred at the end of 2007 and which, according to the United States Department of Statistics, lasted until June 2009, its repercussions in relation to employment of Mexicans in the United States and in the sending of remittances to Mexico; the importance of remittances, even in times of economic contraction, as a source of foreign currency at the national, state, regional and municipal levels. Remittances reduce the negative impacts on other sources of foreign currency in economic contraction and are a temporary relief in the reduction of poverty, but generate vulnerability to fluctuations. |
