| dc.description | Humans try to avoid conflict (even though, paradoxically, they live in it) and rarely know what to do when one happens. Misunderstandings happen every day in this age full of instant messaging and omission of typographical styles in writing (italics, bold, quotation marks, signs of admiration or interrogation). This research proposes a practical and playful communicative model based on the ecology of the mind proposed by Bateson, who anticipated numerous phenomena in the systems long before the arrival of instant messaging and Networks as they are now known. The pedagogical application of Bateson’s theory will be proposed to contrast it with acts of communication that are mere exchanges of free affirmations that students are forced to accept and, on the contrary, the spaces for criticism of these statements so that students are directly involved in the topic that is intended to teach. This proposal will be supported with the analysis of the academic practices of the debate through interviews and approaches to runners-up of the World University Debate Championship in Spanish, instructors, and trainers of academic debate, and will also include the participant observation that took place since 2015. By the nature of this methodology, an ethnography of the debate teams was created in Mexico. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Los humanos tratan de evitar el conflicto (aunque, paradójicamente, vivan en él) y pocas veces pueden llegar a saber qué hacer cuando alguno sucede. Los malentendidos suceden todos los días en esta época llena de mensajería instantánea y omisión de los estilos tipográficos en la escritura (cursivas, negritas, comillas, signos de admiración o interrogación). Esta investigación propone un modelo comunicativo práctico y lúdico basado en la ecología de la mente propuesta por Bateson, quien anticipó numerosos fenómenos en los sistemas mucho antes de que llegase la mensajería instantánea y las Networks como se conocen ahora. Se propondrá también la aplicación pedagógica de la teoría de Bateson para contrastarlo con los actos de comunicación que son meros intercambios de afirmaciones gratuitas que los alumnos se ven obligados a aceptar y, por el contrario, los espacios para la crítica de estas afirmaciones para que los estudiantes se involucren directamente en el tópico que se pretende enseñar. Esta propuesta será sustentada con el análisis de las prácticas académicas del debate por medio de entrevistas y acercamientos a subcampeones del Campeonato Mundial Universitario de Debate en Español, instructores y entrenadores de debate académico, y también se incluirá la observación participante que se realizó desde 2015.
