dc.descriptionDiabetes is a disease with serious complications in people who suffer from them, including some of severity and with expression in the oral system, due to alterations at the immunological level and the suppression of some alterations at the level of tissues supporting the tooth in addition to a greater recurrence of infectious processes. The objective of this work is to evaluate the prevalence of oral diseases in children and adolescents with Diabetes Mellitus treated at the General Hospital Zacatecas “Luz González Cosío”. A descriptive and cross-sectional prevalence study was carried out in a total of 83 patients in the period from November 2015 to November 2016. The oral conditions of the patients were recorded according to the criteria established by the OMS. Based on the ICDAS criteria, the prevalence of non-cavitated carious lesions (injury codes 1 and 2) could be established in 59% of all participants and, on average, they presented an affectation in 1.76 teeth. With the above it is concluded that the prevalence of oral diseases and oral health needs directly depends on the characteristics and behavior of individuals, the social and environmental conditions that surround them. Preventive measures of oral health and early detection of oral lesions are important interventions to improve the quality of life of the pediatric and adolescent diabetic patient.es_ES
dc.description.abstractLa diabetes es una enfermedad con serias complicaciones en las personas que las padecen, entre ellas algunas de gravedad y con expresión en el sistema bucodental, debido a las alteraciones a nivel inmunológico y la supresión de algunas alteraciones a nivel de los tejidos de sostén del diente además de una mayor recurrencia de procesos infecciosos. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar la prevalencia de enfermedades bucodentales en niños y adolescentes con Diabetes Mellitus atendidos en el Hospital General Zacatecas “Luz González Cosío”. Se realizó un estudio de prevalencia, descriptivo y transversal en un total de 83 pacientes en el periodo de noviembre 2015 a noviembre 2016. En él se registraron las condiciones bucales de los pacientes de acuerdo con los criterios establecidos por la OMS. Con base a los criterios ICDAS se pudo establecer la prevalencia de lesiones cariosas no cavitadas (códigos de lesión 1 y 2) en el 59% de todos los participantes y en promedio presentaron una afectación en 1.76 dientes. Con lo anterior se concluye que la prevalencia de las enfermedades bucodentales y las necesidades de salud bucal depende directamente de las características y comportamientos de los individuos, las condiciones sociales y ambientales que los rodean. Las medidas preventivas de salud oral y la detección temprana de lesiones orales, constituyen intervenciones importantes para mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente pediátrico y adolescente diabéticoes_ES
